Dr Alexandra Doig completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery though James Cook University in 2008. Since then, she has worked in many and varied work environments but has primarily worked in emergency medicine in emergency departments in the Brisbane, Mackay and Proserpine region. Her work experience includes clinical coaching and ALS training at UQ School of Medicine and working as a procedural practitioner with QML Pathology. It is through these experiences that she has discovered an appreciation for wholistic management of patient care—particularly through general practice.

She returned to Mackay in 2021 after growing up and attending school in the region. Both Dr Doig and her husband are from regional Queensland, and they are eager to provide their three primary school aged children with experiences of regional community life.

Dr Graeme Cumming - B.Med., FRACGP

In 1999, Dr Cumming studied and obtained his Bachelor of Medicine (B.Med) at the University of Newcastle, NSW, at which time he was also an active member of the Rural Health Club, representing the student body at conferences throughout remote areas of Australia.

Ipswich Hospital was the initial training ground for Dr Cumming up until 2002, when his training continued as a Senior House Officer at the Mater Children’s Hospital in Brisbane. He completed his final stages of training as a GP Registrar in 2005, working in Gladstone, where he successfully obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and recognition as a Specialist General Practitioner, whilst also acting as an Occupational Physician for a local smelter company. He relocated to the Sunshine Coast in 2006, eventually moving to Mackay in 2007.

Dr Cumming has been an integral part of Pioneer Medical Centre since joining us, notably taking on the role of Lead GP Supervisor whilst maintaining extensive roles in the wider Mackay community, both generally and in health care. Dr Cumming is passionate about chronic disease management and has that special touch with the elderly.

During his scarce downtime, Dr Cumming is a keen lover of spearfishing, free diving and sea kayaking. He is renowned for his obsession with the Queensland Maroons and North Queensland Cowboys, and his jovial yet constant torment of any Blues supporters.
